LA FLORESTA
In his new modular trajectory LA FLORESTA, Hans Beckers investigates the relationship between nature and technology, between man and nature. He creates visual sound instruments that are motorized and mechanically driven. The technology amplifies the natural sounds.
How do natural materials such as stones, sand, grains, seeds sound in confrontation with sound art? How can archaic instruments such as mustache bones, membranophones, lithophones, rattles or rasps influence contemporary music? How do we experience nature and sound in this technological era? For the first phase of LA FLORESTA, the sound artist is in residence at iii in The Hague, with show moments in October and November 2021. He acts as a performer himself, interacts with the audience, plays instruments, electronics, unusual objects and his self-made instrument, the 'table noise machine'.
