Besides being surrounded by the sea, Japan is characterized by its vast regions of mountains and forests. Therefore nature has always had an enormous influence on the lifestyle of its people. The drum, made of animal skin and wood, has played an important role in deepening this connection between man and nature and therefore resonates strongly within both entities.
