Takao Hyakutome is a Japanese violinist and composer from Sapporo. He has studied in the Royal Flemish Conservatory of Antwerp and the Conservatory of Maastricht with Prof. Dirk Verelst (violin and chamber music) and Prof. Wim Henderickx (composition). He won prizes in several international competitions such as Premio Geminiani in Verona, Italy, Violin Solo Competition in Cremona, Italy, and Contemporary Chamber Music Competition in Cracow, Poland. Currently Takao does research on the extended violin techniques, while working together with the Antwerp based contemporary music ensemble, ChampdAction. He performs on the violin, Edoardo Marchetti, Torino, 1910, and the 5 string violin, Gauthier Louppe, Marenne, 2002.
